American black walnut with dovetailed sides and splayed legs. Pulls made of bitter brush, which was collected when the Nakashima family was held at Minidoka, an internment camp. An important, early design.

American black walnut free-form slab on 4 short legs that sits on an American black walnut long, low coffee table. The use of what was referred to as a "step table" is something Nakashima did in the early years. The unusually low coffee table height is typical of his early Japanese approach.
