Back to 1920-1980 Design / Coffee Tables

Rare and Early Coffee Table by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, c. 1945

13h x 53.75w x 27d

He designed this and other pieces shortly after he was hired in 1944 to modernize and upgrade the Dunbar line. Wormley's work met with immediate success. In 1944 the company decided to focus strictly on Modern lines, and Edward Wormley rose to the task, incorporating European and Scandinavian innovations. Dunbar #4460 is a rare form for Wormley in which the design is clean and modernist, allowing the wood to take center stage. The form truly comes alive in this very rare Tamo (Japanese ash), c. 1945.
