Very Rare Wagon Wheel Armchair by Wharton Esherick, 1939

40.5h x 23w x 23d in

The Wagon Wheel Chair is one of Esherick’s very rare, early pieces. Like the Hammer Handle Chair, he worked with found parts to create a unique and innovative design. His first version was for a tack room in 1932. For this second version, he used oak and leather with wrought iron struts. 100% original condition, including the leather seat and back. Leather had breaks on the right rear of the seat, that were cosmetically repaired in order to preserve all of the original leather. Signed and dated 1939
